Asbury High and the Thief’s Gamble by Kelly Brady Channick
Asbury High YA Cozy Mystery Series, Book 1
Purple Milk Publishing • February 3, 2020

Can four teens solve a puzzling whodunit that captivates their small town and baffles the police, all while starting high school?

Besides years of close friendship and their shared confidence in each other, just what do a spunky smart tomboy, clever billionaire athlete, gossipy in-the-know cheerleader and technological genius have in common? When a string of burglaries threaten their coastal town, Maddie, Cornelious, Carly and Pilot embark on a mission to stop the crime spree and put things right.

Unfortunately, solving crimes aren’t as easy as they seem on TV. The further they investigate, the more they find themselves constantly side-stepping tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum-like policemen, outsmarting local bully JB and his gang of misfits, and dealing with Cornelious’ billionaire father and Governor—who has disapproved of his son’s choice of friends for years. In addition to these obstacles, the foursome must also adapt to their evolving friendship with each other and their peers. But with upperclassmen, teachers, and teammates vying for their attention, the amateur sleuths must work even harder to root out the red-herrings from the true thief, before it’s too late.

Asbury High and the Thief’s Gamble is the first book in young adult mystery series, that fans of good, old-fashioned mysteries will love.

BRADY HOUSE ORIGINAL BEEF TACO—or to locals, Brady’s Taco Pancakes:

Make the taco meat:

1. Cook and stir one pound of ground beef or ground turkey, until browned and crumbly

2. Season beef with taco sauce, and serve.

***The Taco Sauce and Cheese Mix is homemade, and Chefs Brandan and Dennis do not release this info to the public, sorry!

Make the pancake:

1. Sift two cups of flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt and cinnamon, and one tablespoon sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in one cup of milk, one egg and three tablespoons of melted butter; mix until smooth.

2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Scoop a generous portion of the deliciously gooey and spicy taco meat (already doused in special sauce and cheese) into a hard taco shell. Then fold the finished, fluffy pancake, around the taco shell, and VOILA! Enjoy!

About the Author

For as long as she could remember, Kelly Brady Channick loved making up stories and leaving her listeners/readers on the edge of their seats.

Perhaps that’s why she always managed to talk herself out of trouble…

After graduating from NJ’s own Ocean City High School, Kelly accepted a basketball scholarship to Holy Family University, in Philadelphia. As a lifelong athlete, Kelly understands the importance of teamwork and overcoming adversity, something she hopes translates into her books.

Before writing page-turners, she taught first, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade — like a dessert menu, she simply had to test them all out. But her favorite job is the one she’s now doing full time: writing. Kelly loves to craft whodunit mysteries, leading readers through various twists and turns filled with red-herrings, hidden clues, and more peculiar characters than a reality show.

Kelly lives in South Jersey with her handsome husband, energetic baby boy, two cookie-stealing dogs, and an awfully smart cat.
