The Beach House by Mary Alice Monroe is a perfect summer read. This is a story that broke my heart and mended it a few times over. I was immediately swept up in the family dynamics. There were several issues at play throughout the book, and it seemed that all of the characters had their own secrets and shortcomings: as people do. I absolutely loved the setting. I felt truly transported to the Lowcountry. I didn’t want to leave. I finished this book crying ~ and that’s always the sign of a good read.
I selected this book for our library’s June book club selection and checked my copy out of the library.
