Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
Available August 9, 2016 from St. Martin’s Press
Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace: he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love.
Picture this: a dinner party at their perfect home, the conversation and wine flowing. They appear to be in their element while entertaining. And Grace’s friends are eager to reciprocate with lunch the following week. Grace wants to go, but knows she never will. Her friends call—so why doesn’t Grace ever answer the phone? And how can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim?
And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?
The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?
You can read the first 5 chapters free!
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris is a mesmerizing thriller, with a haunting, tightly-woven plot that kept me reading past my bedtime. I could not put this book down. The author had me hanging on every word.
I love reading and have been a voracious reader for as long as I can remember. I read whenever I have a free moment. I read while I’m waiting for an appointment, I read during my break at work, I read during meals, and I read before I go to sleep. I never leave home without a book, even when I know I won’t have time to read it…I like to have it with me, just in case. Because of life, and work, I normally take a few days or even a week to finish a book. That was not the case with Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. I finished this heart-pounding read in a single day. Seriously. I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning to finish this book, even though I had to get up at 6 the next morning. There was no way I could stop reading without finishing this one.
Jack and Grace Angel are the quintessential perfect couple. He is a lawyer, renowned for his successful track record representing women who are victims of domestic violence. Grace is an independent woman, who, before marrying Jack, traveled the world for her job. She is dedicated to her sister, Millie, who has Down Syndrome. After a whirlwind romance and wedding, Grace realizes that her life will never be the same. Just when you think you know what will happen next, the story turns and leaves you catching your breath. Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris has everything a psychological thriller should have:
- A fast-paced plot that has you tearing through the book as quick as you can.
- Characters who are easy to like/relate to for the ultimate shock factor.
- Evil that leaves you breathless.
I won’t say much more, as I don’t want to spoil the story for you. Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris is this year’s must-read thriller. I loved every twisted word. This is the best book I’ve read in 2016. I cannot wait to read more from this author. If you enjoyed Gone Girl, you need to pick up Behind Closed Doors – you won’t be disappointed.
