Bookish Memes!

First up, the weekly Book Blogger Hop from Coffee Addicted Writer. 🙂 This week’s question comes from Becca:
Oh wow. This is a really hard question for me actually. I love, love, love holding a book in my hands. I love the weight of it, the feel of the paper, the scent. I love having that honest-to-goodness book to hug to my chest and feel while I’m feeling all the feels. But….BUT! That being said…I absolutely love my Kindle. I don’t like to be away from it and tend to carry it with me even when I know I can’t read in the car and likely won’t be able to read where I’m going. I just need it. I love so many books I’ve read from authors who publish only ebooks…I can’t imagine not having some of those stories! It is oh-so-convenient to just touch a button and instantly a book is soaring straight into my greedy bookish hands. I like all the ebook related perks I get for belonging to [affiliate link] Amazon Prime, like a free early release each month and being able to borrow books to read, not to mention movies and music and free shipping on physical books. Plus, there are so many free books it’s pretty amazing.
I think I would have a hard time making a choice…I love so many things about both. There are books I really love that I own the physical copy and the Kindle copy. (I know, I have a problem.) For merely space purposes, I would choose Kindle. I can have literally thousands of books right in the palm of my hand, no matter how small of a space I may be in. What say you? Do you have a preference?
Next up is the Friday 56, hosted by Freda from Freda’s Voice.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.
Mine for today comes from page 56 on my Kindle in Time Trap: Red Moon Trilogy Book 1 by Micah Caida. This is an awesome read so far and I am loving it! Something else awesome? Micah Caida is offering this book free the whole month of June…no ereader necessary! Check out my post about that HERE.
Strength in numbers.
Even if we were only three.
My instincts told me that, and I knew, somehow, that I should trust them, especially in this place.
Last but not least for my Bookish Memes is the Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun from Hilary at Feeling Beachie.
The statements:
1) I ____
2) Once I ____now _____
3) There is a ___ between ___ and _____.
4) Did you ever _____?
My answers:
1) I am so excited to go to Kennywood on Monday!
2) Once I finished reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, now I can finally watch the movie.
3) There is a struggle sometimes between being mom and being me.
4) Did you ever feel the same way?

What place is it? I might try your Friday Fill In.

Hi! 🙂 I don’t know what the ‘place’ is yet, it’s still a mystery!

I have to read fault in the stars already… not enough hours in a day!
Brooke
I know, it took me forever to read. I had read about half of it and stopped and finally got the chance to pick it back up. I sobbed for the whole second half of the book though, so I definitely need to watch that movie at home. 😉
Elizabeth (Silver's Reviews)
I definitely prefer print. I forget I have e-books. I need to see a book to know I have it to read. 🙂
You said you are excited about going to Kennywood. So…that means you live in the Pittsburgh area. 🙂 I do too.
Have fun at Kennywood.
Happy Hopping!!

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for stopping by. 😀 I live in Ohio but right on the border…Pittsburgh is the closest big city to me. Definitely looking forward to it: first time for my daughters, and I haven’t been there for years!

Great 56! Thanks for the freebie heads up!
Happy weekend!
Brooke
Hi Freda! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂 And you’re welcome. It is a really enjoyable read so far.

I’ve never read from an e-book, but it does sound so convenient. And I had no idea that you have access to free books, nor did I realize that some authors only publish ebooks. Now I’m even more tempted to buy a kindle or something!
Brooke
Hi C! Thank you for coming by. 🙂 My boyfriend bought me a Kindle for Christmas years ago…I was totally surprised and it took me a long time to get ‘into’ it. Now I can’t imagine not having it! I sign up for different newsletters and visit various sites and blogs that post free ebooks every day! It’s a nice benefit and ereaders make it convenient.

I’m definitely a printed book lover, exactly all the reasons you said, there is just nothing better. I’ve never used a kindle and to be honest I don’t think I ever will xx
Brooke
It took me a while to really get into my Kindle, but now I can’t imagine not having it. Though I will never ever give up physical books. Even though I’m running out of room. 😉 Thanks for commenting, Sharon!

BBH: Oh wow… How do I have an Amazon Prime account and did not even know about these perks!!! Thanks so much, Brooke, must investigate!
56: Ooooo. That sounds really intriguing. Adding to my to-read list.
F5: Never heard of this meme. Definitely going to give it a whirl next week. Your answer to #3 really resonated with me, as I’m trying to change my life by losing weight and having a better outlook/being positive. I’d alter it to “There is a struggle between embracing who I am now and not falling into the old patterns of who I used to be.”

Hi Page! Hope you found them. I think Kindle First is what the free early book is…at the beginning of the month, they send an email that has 4 books releasing at the beginning of the next month, and you can check them out and then pick one of them for free and you’ll get it right then, before it’s released. Pretty cool. 🙂 And then whenever you see the Prime symbol on a Kindle book, that means you can borrow it. I think you can borrow one book a month out of any you happen to come across that say free to read for Prime. 🙂 Love it! And they just started their free music streaming, I haven’t had much of a chance to check it out, though it’s kinda like the Prime videos, but with music playlists. I love having Prime!
