Killer Music by Tammy L. Grace

Killer Music by Tammy L. Grace

My Thoughts On Killer Music by Tammy L. Grace

Killer Music is the first book in the Cooper Harrington Detective Series. Cooper (or “Coop”) is a private detective. He finds himself on the case of the murder of Grayson Taylor. Coop, along with his friend, Detective Ben Mason, are working like crazy to find the murderer. This book was full of engaging characters that had me interested right away. It was a book that I wanted to keep reading and didn’t want to put down to have to do pesky things like sleep. If you are looking for a mystery that keeps you guessing and will have your heart pounding, this book is it. I am looking forward …

No Turning Back by Tracy Buchanan – Guest Post + Giveaway @TracyBuchanan

No Turning Back by Tracy Buchanan – Guest Post + Giveaway @TracyBuchanan

My writing sanctuary by Tracy Buchanan

Each morning, there’s nothing that gives me more joy then stepping into my beautiful study. It wasn’t always like that though. When we viewed our new house before putting in an offer, the room was filled floor to ceiling with books, files, boxes of clothes and more. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet threadbare. But I could see through all that. I knew it would one day be the place I’d write my novels. So when we moved in, it was the first room I set about redecorating.

While my novels are mainly set in seaside locations, I like the darker side (as you’ll see in my latest novel No Turning …

Bearly Departed by Meg Macy

Bearly Departed by Meg Macy

Bearly Departed by Meg Macy is the first book in A Teddy Bear Mystery series. I was so excited to get my hands on this book. I love cozy mysteries. I love and collect Boyd’s Bears. Meg Macy did not disappoint!

Sasha manages her family’s teddy bear shop and factory. She suspects one of their employees, Will Taylor, is trying to make changes to their business for less-than-honest reasons. She even suspects him of selling their teddy bear pattern to a competitor. Will also brings up the idea of getting rid of some of their employees. No one at the Silver Bear Shop and Factory likes Will, and there have even been a few who exchanged words with …

Treble at the Jam Fest by Leslie Budewitz – Guest Post + Giveaway

Treble at the Jam Fest by Leslie Budewitz – Guest Post + Giveaway

Every recipe tells a story.

Every recipe is a story. Take pie, for example. (I’ll wait while you cut us each a piece.) In every culture, there’s a dish made of fruit baked in pastry or dough. It might be peach pie in Georgia, where peaches are easy to grow, apple or cherry up north where the trees need that winter chill. My friend from Kazakhstan bakes darling apple turnovers she learned to make with her grandmother. In other countries, you’d be offered a fruit tart or a stuffed dumpling.

And whether we’re a local or a visitor, when we spot that treat, our faces light up. We feel connected. Nurtured. In the French countryside or an …

Watching the Detectives by Julie Mulhern

Watching the Detectives by Julie Mulhern

Guest Post

Every so often, I run across a picture of Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher. She’s sitting at her kitchen table in front of a typewriter. There’s a coffee cup to her left, a coffee pot to her right, and a sweater casually draped around her shoulders. She’s wearing make-up. She’s also wearing a satisfied smile—as if writing is a lark and she’s just sat down to dash off 5,000 words.

I too write at the kitchen table. On a laptop. I too have a coffee cup nearby. The Keurig is but steps away. But chances are, if I’m writing, there’s no sweater. There’s definitely no make-up. And there is absolutely no satisfied smile.

Since I write early in …

Marriage Is Pure Murder by Staci McLaughlin

Marriage Is Pure Murder by Staci McLaughlin

Marriage Is Pure Murder by Stacie McLaughlin

is the 6th book in the Blossom Valley Mystery series. I have not read the other books in this series. However, I found it easy to jump right in where the story begins. I quickly felt like I knew the characters and the setting. This was a fast-paced and enjoyable cozy. I liked Dana; she felt very authentic and like someone I want to be friends with in real life. 🙂 I am really looking forward to going back and reading the earlier books in this series.

A Giulia Driscoll Mystery #4

When terrified Elaine Patrick knocks on Driscoll Investigations’ door and insists her house is haunted, Giulia Driscoll’s first response is “we don’t handle ghosts.” When Elaine’s housekeeper and crackpot filthy rich cousin descend on Giulia and demand she find out who’s trying to steal sweet, fragile Elaine’s family business out from under her, that’s a different story. They want DI to provide Tarot readings, ghost hunting sessions, and even an exorcism.

Ghost hunting? There are apps for that. Tarot readings? Experts in the skill are right across the street. Exorcisms? Having a priest for a brother-in-law comes in handy. Giulia plunges into a crash course in all things supernatural, …

Grilled, Chilled and Killed by Lesley A. Diehl

Grilled, Chilled and Killed by Lesley A. Diehl

My Thoughts

Grilled, Chilled and Killed by Lesley A. Diehl is the second cozy book in the Big Lake Murder Mysteries series featuring Emily Rhodes. This book is as enjoyable as the first in the series (Dumpster Dying). Emily unluckily finds herself caught up in another murder and investigation. Though Emily doesn’t want to use her sleuthing skills, she feels she has no choice to make sure the crime is solved correctly.

Emily is a character that is growing on me. I didn’t totally dislike her in the first book, but I was a bit ambivalent toward her. In this installment, I actually liked Emily more than I thought I would. Grilled, Chilled and Killed is a fun addition …
