Deadly Dye and a Soy Chai by Elizabeth Ashby & Traci Andrighetti
Danger Cove Mysteries Book 5

Native Texan Cassidi Conti was expecting to face some obstacles when she moved to Danger Cove and opened The Clip and Sip, a hair salon that gives away free drinks. What she wasn’t counting on was a client dying during a dye job. But when eighty-year-old Margaret Appleby comes in for her biweekly appointment, that’s exactly what happens: Margaret drinks her usual soy chai, dozes off under the dryer…and doesn’t wake up. Now The Clip and Sip is under suspicion, clients are wary, and Cassidi is on a mission to prove that while her styles may be killer, her employees are innocent! But as Cassidi wades through the myriad of suspects in the small, costal town, the killer sets his sights straight on everyone’s favorite stylist. If Cassidi doesn’t watch her back, she may just end up Danger Cove’s latest fashionable victim.

Profile: Gia Di Mitri
By Traci Andrighetti

For the DEADLY DYE AND A SOY CHAI blog tour, I’m writing a profile post on each of the five main characters in the Danger Cove Hair Salon series. Today I’m featuring Gia Di Mitri, the vivacious—and sometimes outrageous—black-haired, brown-eyed step cousin of my protagonist, Cassidi Conti.

Occupation: Twenty-six-year-old Gia left her hometown of Altantic City, New Jersey, to work as a makeup and nail artist at Cassidi’s hair salon, The Clip and Sip. When Gia’s not working her beauty magic, she also makes the coffee (pronounced “cawffee” in New Jerseyese) drinks for the clients because she used to work as a barista.

Education: Gia attended the Academy of Cosmetology NYC on Staten Island, New York, where she perfected her signature look: smokey eyes with false eyelashes, blush, bronzer, and a light pink frosty lip (created with tan lipliner, pink lipstick, clear gloss). Note: She never goes anywhere without oil blotting papers.

Personality: Gia has a big personality and an even bigger heart. But much to Cassidi’s dismay, Gia is a natural-born consultant who is always handing out unsolicited advice.

Bad habits: She has a tendency to do clients’ makeup however she wants (she doesn’t understand the point of the “natural look.” And she’s not always inclined to ask permission to drive the “sick black Ferrari” that Cassidi’s Uncle Vinnie left her in his will.

Favorite Foods (and Drinks):
Gia loves potato chips and, when she sits down to eat a meal, Italian food—even though it sometimes gives her “agita“ (New Jersey Italian for “heartburn”). When it comes to drinks, she’s all about vodka, and she believes that there is a flavor suited to every occasion.

Main Challenges Gia Is Facing Now (in no particular order):
1. Launching Mad Makeup, her own extremely colorful line of cosmetics.
2. Planning fabulous salon events to get The Clip and Sip on the Danger Cove beauty map.
3. Locating the small fortune that Vinnie had supposedly amassed when he was murdered.
4. Finding a handsome and tan bodybuilder in the Pacific Northwest to date.
5. Helping Cassidi to solve the murders that just keep happening in The Clip and Sip.

Defense mechanism:
Completely ignoring anything that she doesn’t want to hear…
