I have always wanted to be artistic. For the longest time, I felt like artistic skill must just be ingrained, and not something I could learn. Well, I had the opportunity to try out an online watercolor class from Emily Lex and she has changed my mind. In less than an hour of going through lessons in her Simplified Watercolor course, I was able to learn so much! I learned about watercolor supplies and techniques, blending colors, fixing mistakes, and even created my first two projects! I didn’t understand the difference between pan watercolors and tube watercolors. I even learned about the difference between cold-pressed and hot-pressed paper and the importance of using watercolor paper for watercolor projects.

Emily also included two Watercolor Workbooks: flowers and animals. These watercolor pads have light sketch drawings as well as step-by-step instructions to complete the paintings with your own creativity. I love that these books give a starting point and will allow me to practice my sketching and watercolor skills.

How cool is that?! I don’t think I’ve ever tried to learn something and been able to have two completed projects right away. The lessons are short and super easy to follow along with. Emily does a wonderful job of explaining just what to do – and gives you the confidence to do so as well. If you are interested in learning the art of watercolor painting, I highly recommend Emily’s course. I also received access to her kid’s watercolor course and simplified penmanship. I can’t wait to work on these other courses – and my 9-year-old is really looking forward to starting Emily’s course for kids once school is out this week.

Emily also makes beautiful truth for today decks for adults and kids. These beautiful cards, with watercolor illustrations and Bible verses, are easy to display and look lovely in any room. These would be great for memorizing verses or displaying in your home office or homeschool room.
