Thank you so much, Brooke, for hosting me today (my birthday–WOOT)! And a big hello to Brooke’s readers!
Happy Birthday, Erin!! Thank you so much for spending time here at Brooke Blogs.
I’m here today because my husband and I are on tour together as part of the Rhew 2 Rhew tour! His publisher released his thriller 122 Rules this month, and at the same time, my publisher is spotlighting my trilogy, The Fulfillment Series, for April! Stay tuned because our blog tour includes a Rafflecopter giveaway for a $50 Amazon gift card!!
So, Brooke asked me to come here and do a playlist for her readers. It’s funny…I’m definitely one of those people you’ll find jamming out in the car at a stoplight, but I don’t listen to music when I write (with one exception). Since I have ADD, I find the music to be a distraction, and I end up listening to the words of the song instead of focusing on my writing. But as I wrote my series, three songs emerged in my mind that fit the essence of each book to a “T.”
In my stories, there are three main characters: Layla, Wil, and Nash. Layla is a Vanguard, endowed with supernatural strength. When she’s proclaimed the Fulfillment of an ancient peace prophecy, she’s whisked away by relgious zealots to the homeland of the Vanguard’s greatest enemy, the Ethereals. Wilhelm, Wil, is the prince of the Ethereals and, despite years of fighting between their kingdoms, he and Layla form a friendship. Enter Nash, he’s a wild card, a misfit. He doesn’t belong anywhere until he joins Wil and Layla in the battle for peace.
The Prophecy
Synopsis:
Growing up on a small farm in the kingdom of Vanguard, seventeen-year-old Layla Givens lives a deceptively tranquil existence. But her carefully constructed life quickly falls apart when she’s abducted by a religious zealot who proclaims her The Fulfillment of an ancient peace prophecy and whisks her away to marry her greatest enemy.
Wilhelm, Prince of the Ethereals, is reluctant to meet his new bride. He’s grown up believing Vanguards are evil, an enemy to fight and fear…not love. Can he set aside his prejudices and work alongside Layla to bring lasting peace after centuries of war?
Nash, a loner who has never fit in, carries a huge secret, one big enough to destroy both kingdoms. When he accidently meets Layla, he’s no longer content to live in the shadows, but he must resist his growing attraction—for her safety and for the longevity of the two kingdoms.
When Nash’s secret is revealed, a firestorm sweeps through both realms, with Layla at the center. Now she must choose between duty and desire while the fate of two nations hangs
in the balance.
Playlist: For this book, the song “I Won’t Give Up” has always spoken to me. Wil meets Layla, and he’s supposed to hate her because she’s his enemy. But he’s intrigued by her, fascinated by her physical and mental fortitude. And he falls in love with her. But it’s not that simple because supernatural forces conspire to keep them apart and prevent the long-awaited peace. Despite everything, Wil maintains faith and hope in Layla and in their joint desire for a lasting unity between their kingdoms.
I won’t provide a synopsis for this one since there are spoilers on it. 😉
Playlist: The song for this book is “My Immortal,” and it’s Nash’s song. In this book, he’s gotten himself into quite the predicament. In the Outlands, Queen Cataleen (the evil, wicked ruler of the Outlander people) has wrapped her tentacles around Nash’s mind to the point he doesn’t know up from down. All the things he’s believed to be true are called into question, and he’s at his breaking point. Worst of all, the one thing he’s been holding onto, the one thing he’s wanted more than anything, is slipping away.
**This song is the one exception to my “no music while I write” rule. There’s a scene in The Outlanders that everyone refers to as “THE SCENE.” When I wrote that, I did listen to this song over and over again to get me in the right frame of mind. **
No synopsis for this one either because…spoilers. 😉
Playlist: For this final book, the song is “Wide Awake” and it’s Layla’s song. In the final installment of this trilogy, Layla learns that things are not always as they seem. She’s put her faith into a prophecy and gives her heart to a boy, and neither one may be what she originally thought. Instead of falling apart, she grows stronger, does what needs doing, finds herself, and blazes a path into to the future.
For those that don’t know, Erin is a young adult fantasy author who is married to adult thriller author, Deek Rhew. Together, they are “the Rhews,” and their street team is the Rhewination!
Deek and Erin– Join the Rhewination! 😉
Last week, Deek went on blog tour to celebrate the release of his latest book, 122 Rules. And this week, Erin is on tour to promote her fantasy trilogy, The Fulfillment Series! PS. There’s a giveaway–a $50 Amazon gift card!!
So, here’s a little bit more about Erin, Deek, and The Fulfillment Series:

Erin Rhew is an editor, a running coach, and the author of The Fulfillment Series. Since she picked up Morris the Moose Goes to School at age four, she has been infatuated with the written word. She went on to work as a grammar and writing tutor in college and is still teased by her family and friends for being a member of the “Grammar Police.”
A Southern girl by blood and birth, Erin now lives in a rainy pocket of the Pacific Northwest with the amazingly talented (and totally handsome) writer Deek Rhew and their “overly fluffy,” patient-as-a-saint writing assistant, a tabby cat named Trinity. She and Deek enjoy reading aloud to one another, running, lifting, boxing, eating chocolate, and writing side-by-side.
Deek lives in a rainy pocket in the Pacific Northwest with the stunning YA author bride, Erin Rhew, and their writing assistant, a fat tabby named Trinity. They enjoy lingering in the mornings, and often late into the night, caught up in Erin’s fantastic fantasy worlds of noble princes and knights and entwined in Deek’s dark underworld of the FBI and drug lords.
He and Erin love to share books by reading aloud to one another. In addition, they enjoy spending time with friends, running, boxing, lifting weights, and exploring the little town–with antique shops and bakeries–they call home.
