Kick off Summer Family Fun at Kennywood!

If you are from the Pittsburgh area or have ever visited Kennywood, you already know the awesome yellow arrow symbol. 🙂 Kennywood is a family friendly amusement park located outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kennywood was founded in 1898 as a small trolley park and has grown leaps and bounds since then. They have rides and attractions from ‘mild to wild’ for everyone to enjoy.

I have so many fond memories of Kennywood! I remember visiting it many times throughout my childhood and once as an adult. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Kennywood, and I can’t wait to go again! We are planning to visit Kennywood in June. It will be the first time my daughters are going to a big amusement park. I know Keira and Natalie are going to have a wonderful time. I can’t wait to make our first family Kennywood memories together.

Keira has already begun browsing the Kennywood website to learn about the different rides, attractions and food venues. She is most looking forward to the water rides and real roller coasters like the classic Jack Rabbit! She hasn’t been on a roller coaster other than little ones at fairs or carnivals, so she is in for a treat. I love that there are so many ride options available for my younger daughter, Natalie, too. She is a little daredevil and I think she is going to have so much fun on the kiddie rides!

While the kids are looking forward to the rides, I’m most looking forward to visiting a beautiful amusement park that holds many memories for me. I can’t wait to see my girls’ faces when they first enter Kennywood. It is going to be such a wonderful day and I can’t wait to share our memories here on the blog next month. Have you ever visited Kennywood? If so, what’s your favorite memory?

    1. You know, I’m not sure who/what it’s named after, but I don’t think it’s Kenny Rogers. That would be fun though. 🙂

It is a bunch of fun!

  1. Kennywood looks like it’s a blast. We have something similar to us called Magic Springs and Cyrstal Falls.

If we ever find ourselves in Penn. we will have to check it out.

Can’t wait to here about your day there.

    1. Aww! Hope you make it back to visit Kennywood soon. We are really excited to go, as I haven’t been there for years and my girls have never been.

    1. The day we went was perfect! Partly cloudy and in the low-mid 80s. Warm, but we didn’t have the sun on us the whole time. Perfect day for the water rides.

    1. It really is! I love that it’s been around so long…it’s neat to see rides that have been around (though updated) for decades!

  2. Oh my gosh that look like so much fun! That looks like a great place to take the kids I know yours are going to love it. I wish we lived closer I would take my kids!

    1. My kids had such a great time! I’ll be posting about our visit soon. It’s a great park for kids, Stephanie! Hope someday you’re in the area and can take yours. 🙂

  3. I’ve never been to Kennywood, nor have I ever heard of it. The park sounds like a lot of fun. I like its great weather guarantee.

    1. I love that, too, Pam! We visited on a partly cloudy day that had a chance of thunderstorms, and I wasn’t worried at all! I knew we would be covered if we got rained out.

  4. It looks like a great time!! It reminds me of a place we have here called Western Playground, or when I was a kid and we went to Six Flags Over Texas every summer.

  5. Wow, that is a lot of roller coasters! I would love to go there. My daughter would love the Steel City Choppers for sure! Might be our next small flight!
