What’s a girl to do when her best friend is making a mistake? Stop him, of course.
College sophomore Emily Dilbert has been best friends with Dylan Chamberlain since they were kids. All she wants is for him to be happy and she knows him better than anyone. That’s why when she finds an engagement ring in his backpack she has to stop him from marrying the wrong girl.
Dylan Chamberlain has been in love with his brother’s girlfriend, Emily, since the second grade. When his brother asks for help planning a surprise proposal, Dylan knows it’s time to bury his feelings and finally let Emily go. Too bad his heart refuses to cooperate.
All of Emily’s attempts to lure Dylan away from his girlfriend fail, forcing her to turn up the heat on their friendship. Will Dylan reveal his long-buried secret and tell Emily how he feels? Or will Emily be forced to use any means necessary to show him the error of his ways?

Where I like to write and why:
As an author, my job is sedentary by nature. I’m required to spend hour upon hour with my butt in the chair and my fingers on the keyboard. I’m also blessed to have ADD, a little fact I discovered when my son was diagnosed in second grade and I began reading about the disorder. Neither one of us takes medication, but we’ve both learned how to increase our focus.
For me, exercise is key. I can’t sit still and concentrate until I’ve gotten some exercise—most days at least an hour. When you have kids are try to squeeze in your writing time around their schedule, that hour away from the keyboard is hard to part with. I’ve come up with a solution that enables me to write and exercise at the same time.
We have a recumbent bike and a treadmill at home. I ride the bike and write utilizing a plastic shelf that holds my laptop with Velcro. Now, I get the benefit of exercise and those fabulous endorphins that feed my imagination. I also use the shelf on the treadmill, but mostly at a strolling speed.
When I’m not writing and exercising, I work on my laptop so as not to get distracted by the Internet and email. I can pick the best spot in the house (or on the go) to work. I’m also blessed to have the support of a group of authors and we try to do a writing retreat a couple of times per year. I get more work done in those few days than I ever do at home.
