Falling in love is like swimming with sharks…
Sharona Blaire is only in Australia for a business audit, but she’s determined to make the most of her one free night. So when she spills her drink on a handsome stranger and they end up flirting, she does something completely out of character—she kisses him. But the prospect of taking it further totally freaks her out…almost as much as discovering the next morning that the man she’s auditing is the sexy, tanned stranger she left with zero explanation.
An audit during his crew’s most important expedition yet is a complication marine biologist Jeff Cruz doesn't need—especially when the auditor is the gorgeous, fascinating woman from the night before. Out at sea with nowhere to run, he’s forced to admit Sharona draws him in like a shark to blood. But Jeff's one passion is his job, and nothing—not even love—will get its hooks in him...
Hi there! Thanks for having me on your fabulous blog. I’ll be gabbing about my new novella, LOVE BITES. The story is about Sharona and Jeff, a couple who meet at a bar. Cliché, I know…but wait! The bar is in Australia, and for this hardly-travels-abroad American girl (me!), that’s as exotic as it gets. After discovering they are both in Oz for only one night, they jump into some pretty heavy flirting, then some even heavier kissing then…they end up at the elevator on the way up to her room.
After Sharona can’t go through with the one night stand, she’s shocked to find out the next morning that the guy she’d been sent across the world to audit is the same guy she’d ditched last night. And just as sexy. Oh, boy…
For fun, I decided to do a little profile sketch of my two main characters. Try not to fall in love with them as much as I did!
Name: Sharona Blaire
Age: 26
Profession: Professional auditor, specializing in not-for-profit science projects.
Origin: Italian and Mediterranean (which explains her dark hair and eyes)
Home base: Miami, Florida, but this is her first trip to Oz and she’s determined to make the most of it. Hooking up with a sexy stranger who looks like Thor? Yes, please!
Workouts: Running out all her frustration on her Miami riverside running path. And many secret “workouts” below deck with Jeff…when no one is watching.
Vices: Irrational fear of sharks (which is a “vice” in Jeff’s book), after a broken engagement to a tool, she hasn’t had a fun adventure…until now.
Kudos: Manages to keep her sea legs even when faced with a breeching great white named “Waltzing Matilda,” who Jeff is convinced has a crush on Sharona.
Name: Dr. Jeffery “Great White” Cruz
Age: 28
Profession: Marine Biologist, specializing in great white shark reproduction
Origin: Australian with a touch of Greek.
Home base: Sydney, Australia (born), Miami, Florida (current home); various research ships and ports across the world (job).
Workouts: Running, free weights, deep water swimming and playing “bunk tag” with Sharona.
Vices: Like any typical type-A alpha male, he thinks he’s always right…until a certain dark-haired beaut—who gives amazing love bites—turns his world upside-down.
Kudos: Dubbed Jeff “Great White” Cruz, he—and his shark research—have starred in numerous documentaries on the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and National Geographic. Bears a striking resemblance to Thor (swoon).
Shew! Is it getting hot in here? If these little tidbits whet your romance whistle, don’t forget to check out LOVE BITES to find out what happens when the shark-obsessed Jeff falls for play-it-safe Sharona.

Love Bites by Ophelia London is the perfect bite of romance for an afternoon of reading pleasure. Coincidence or not, I loved that I was reading this while also watching Shark Week. 😉 Sharona and Jeff are both characters that I really liked right from the beginning. I spent a lot of the book in angst over when they would be together. This novella is the perfect start to a series. I loved the interaction and the backdrop of the sharks. It is a perfect pick-me-up with palpable chemistry making me want more.
