JB Michaels Character Post – Mac from the Mac and Millie Mysteries

Hello Friends!

I am Mac O’Malley, you may have heard of me because of the Chicago Marathon incident where I saved hundreds if not thousands of people from certain death and injury!

Well, anyway, I was a cop at the time and was forced to retire because my leg was injured during that whole debacle. Now I have written a memoir about the entire situation, and it will be published soon enough so you can read all about that. Don’t want to give away too much so you know you buy that book! Ha! Coming soon from Harrison and James Publishing!

Anyway, my brother, Vince, lives out in Geneva, Illinois and is a detective out there. He was a Chicago cop with me for years, but his wife wanted to live in the burbs and due to Chicago law, you can’t be a cop in Chicago and live in the suburbs, so he went out there and has been there for a long time now about 17 years or so. I followed in his footsteps and set up shop in Geneva too.

Geneva. Let me tell you about this hidden gem of a place along the Fox River. Now to give some context I grew up on a city block on the Southside of Chicago. So, the view from my house was another Chicago bungalow or Georgian. Some cool trees that if old enough would grow very large at the end of the block but really it was an urban life. Endless houses and streets.

Third St. It is like walking back through time. A beautiful, wonderful, community lane of brick-laden walkways and intersections. Small shops, delectable restaurants, and of course the main attraction; the very old, very classic, storied, and oft-visited retail mansion: The Tiny Wanderer. A vast 36 room Italianate old house replete with goods from around the world, candies, clothes, housewares, collectibles, and an atrium café where I wrote my book!

I fell in love with the charm and nostalgia of the town. Then I fell in love with a resident of this fair town. Millie. My soon-to-be-wife who just so happens to have some incredible talents that I won’t divulge now but they do come in handy when we find ourselves in some precarious situations.

For some reason, the murder rate in Geneva and the surrounding Fox Valley increased when I arrived here. Millie and I have had our fair share of sleuthing to do around here. We have been somewhat successful. The latest situation with the murder on the Geneva Express train from downtown Chicago was pretty rough…

Anyway, there is a decent chronicler of these murder mysteries per se, JB Michaels does an OK job of detailing Millie and I’s crime-solving antics in the cozy small town of Geneva. I encourage you to check those books out. They are entertaining and won’t take up too much of your time.

I must get going now. I have to finalize my tuxedo measurements for the wedding. Yeah, I am a bit of a slacker on some things that should have been done months ago. Ha! Have a great day!
