Now in paperback in the USA Today bestselling series, Jessica Fletcher cleans house to catch a killer who hasn't got a ghost of a chance.

Jessica's friend, Eve Simpson, has recently taken on the task of selling one of Cabot Cove's oldest properties the Spencer Percy House. Its current occupant, Cliff Cooper, is convinced he's about to die and wants the house sold so he can give the proceeds to his grandson.

But Eve's got quite a challenge on her hands. Not only is the building in deplorable physical condition, it is also rumored to be haunted.

When Cliff s deadly premonition becomes a reality, some people aren't sure he died of natural causes. Now, as Jessica tries to get to the bottom of Cliff Cooper's death, a medium hired by Eve attempts to rid the house of the alleged apparition. But if Jessica isn't careful, she may be the one who joins the ranks of the dearly departed."

The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher

I love the television show Murder, She Wrote. It’s always been one of my favorites. I have a few of the books in the series, penned by Jessica Fletcher (of course!), Donald Bain and Renee Paley-Bain. This is the first one that I’ve read and I can’t believe I’ve waited this long. The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher is a great mystery.

When a life-long resident of Cabot Cove, Cliff Cooper, is convinced he will die soon, he asks Jessica to make sure his house is sold and his grandson inherits the money. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I couldn’t put it down. Strange noises in the house make it seem like there could be a ghost around…the October setting helps, too. 🙂 Jessica helps her friend Eve in getting the house ready for sale following Cliff’s death. Cliff had quite a book collection, so Jessica works to set up a book sale to benefit the library.

It soon turns out that the house has more secrets than anyone knew. With Cliff Cooper’s death looking suspicious, something unexpected hidden in the basement, and a story from long ago, the mysteries just keep piling up. This twisty cozy mystery had me wrapped up from the beginning.

If you enjoy a cozy mystery with small-town charm and great characters, you won’t be disappointed with The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher. I had a lot of fun reading this cozy mystery and I’m looking forward to reading more Murder, She Wrote books. Be sure to check out the other books in this series on Goodreads and pick up your copy of The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher on Amazon.

I voluntarily reviewed this book. This review contains only my honest opinion and was not influenced in any way.

  1. I adore Murder She Wrote, too. When I was a kid, I would always watch it with my mother, and I still love it. It’s on Netflix! I’ve actually never read any of the books, but I’m thinking I should. So glad you enjoyed this! Jessica is the best. And I always loved the episodes set in Cabot Cove the best. Eve is hilarious. Is Seth in this book? He’s a favorite character of mine.

    1. Hi Quinn! I loved watching it with my grandmother, and now my daughters and I like to watch it on Netflix. Even my 5 year old, when she saw the cover of the book while I was reading it, said, “Hey, I know that character from her TV show!” 🙂 Seth is in this book!
