Rules. Balance. Consequences. War.

When Fate gave Dane the water from Eden to drink, she did more than save his life. She changed his destiny.

Since the beginning, a compact between God and Lucifer has maintained a tenuous peace, balancing Soulkeepers and Watchers and the natural order of things. Dane upset that balance the day he became a Soulkeeper. Fate broke the rules.

Now, Lucifer is demanding a consequence, requiring Fate to pay the ultimate price for her involvement. God intervenes on the immortal’s behalf but in order to save her soul must dissolve the compact and with it the rules, order, and balance that have kept the …

7 Surprising Facts About Me Few People Know by Peter Palmieri
Author of The Art of Forgetting

We did have complete (if outdated) sets of Encyclopedia Britannica and Encyclopedia Americana that helped pass the time on rainy days and in the evening after it got too dark to play outside. My aunt – who raised me from the age of five — bought fresh food every day during the summer. In the winter, our entire terrace became a freezer. I don’t remember a single instance when our food spoiled or when I couldn’t find something to keep me entertained.

2. I was a remarkably dumb …

Welcome to my It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? post. I’ve been meaning to get back into this weekly meme. I love getting to see what everyone is reading for the week and visiting some of my favorite bookish blogs. Here’s what I’m working on reading this week:

Review: Sleep Well for Kids CD

Sleep Well For Kids – Relax at Bedtime

Soothing guided imagery & relaxing melodies create a nurturing atmosphere that can help children and their parents drift off to sleep. Sleep Well for Kids is part of the Live Well Series from Jeff Gold and Janet Montgomery.

I was contacted by Jeff to see if I was interested in reviewing this CD. Since I am a mom to a persnickety toddler who isn’t always a fan of sleep, I jumped at the chance! We received the CD and Natalie loved looking at the animals all throughout the front, back and inside covers.

Since it was nearing bedtime, I put the CD in and let it play. Natalie actually …

Diabetic Pet Food

Discovering that your pet has diabetes is painful at best, but it is something that can be coped with. Unlike some injuries and afflictions, a dog can go on to be perfectly happy and even healthy in their life so long as their diabetes is managed appropriately, just as with a person. However, as with a person, this takes managing the dog’s diabetes, which can be a more difficult task. Unlike a human, a dog can’t understand that they have diabetes and take care of themselves, putting the responsibility off on the owner. However, managing a dog’s diabetes is entirely possible.

The first thing that’s easiest to overlook is exercise. Dogs can use exercise just like people can. While it might …

PageantDesigns.com Dresses

Pageants have become a billion-dollar industry. Little girls, teens and young women are dressed to the “nines” in long and short formal and semi-formal dresses. Most dresses are beaded with Aurora-Borealis (AB), diamond-like jewels that are similar to those used in competitive figure skating.

Little girls are the largest competitive group in the many pageants around the U.S. year round. Most of them wear “cupcake” dresses. A cupcake dress has a skirt constructed from layer upon layer of organza that has been tightly surge-hemmed at one end to give it a “ruffled” look. Stiff tooling is also used. Cupcake dresses usually have puffed sleeves or are sleeveless. An emerging cupcake-dress trend in sleeves is the off-the-shoulder look with small capped sleeves.

Cupcake …
