Review

In The Wishing Well Curse by Lynn Donovan, we are introduced to a young man named Zeke Clay. As the story starts out, we are shown glimpses of Zeke’s life from age 18 until 21. Once he is 21, Zeke feels like he is having the worst day of his life. He is forced to drop out of EMT school, he catches his girlfriend kissing another guy and he loses his job. Zeke feels like God hates him. His now ex-girlfriend, Angela, gives him a certified letter that changes everything.

Zeke learns that he is apparently the only living relative of Luther Clayton, who has just passed away. He decides he has nothing to lose by going to the reading of the will and finding out what he has inherited. It turns out that he will inherit the house and the fortune Luther left behind, but only if he follows the terms and conditions Luther set forth. Zeke must break a so-called family curse in order to receive his inheritance. He has one week to decide if he will accept this challenge.

Over the week, Zeke goes through many trials, tribulations, and personal changes. He is an admirable ‘hero’ and you can’t help but want him to succeed in breaking the curse. Lynn Donovan does a great job of weaving a mystery that incorporates faith, Native American beliefs and spirituality. This was a fast read for me, even at 360+ pages. This was a story that I couldn’t put down until I finished it. Definitely worth checking out!
