Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock – Review & Giveaway

Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock – Review & Giveaway

My Thoughts

Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock is the first book in the new Ruby Shaw Mysteries series. This was such an exciting book! I absolutely loved the premise. From the moment I read that Ruby and her daughter were in witness protection, I wondered how in the world the author would pull off telling the story. I didn’t know if she would be able to have Ruby involved in a crime without blowing her cover.

The author did not disappoint. I loved that the story still felt light even with the gritty subject matter…after all, to be in WITSEC, usually something terrible has happened. I really, really liked Ruby and I loved the setting of Paradise, Arizona. This …

The Little Grave by Carolyn Arnold

The Little Grave by Carolyn Arnold

My Thoughts

The Little Grave by Carolyn Arnold is a thriller packed with mysteries at every turn. I found myself utterly wrapped up in the story and staying up well past my bedtime to finish reading. Detective Amanda Steele is very relatable…as a mother and a wife, I can understand her anguish at losing her family. The character development by Ms. Arnold is spot-on. I love that Amanda is shown from all sides – she has dark moments and we get to see them as well as her flaws. It really helps drive the story. The pacing is perfectly done. One thing I love when I read a book by Ms. Arnold is that I feel like I’m watching one of …

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review and Giveaway

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review and Giveaway

My Thoughts

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber is everything I hoped it would be and more! From the moment I saw the cover of this magical read, I knew I was going to love it. Courtney is the owner of Open Your Imagination, a fairy garden store. She has lots of fun events, from book clubs with tea (and live harp music!) out on the patio to learning activities where participants can make their own fairy garden. One minor detail: Courtney can see fairies. Or, at least, her fairy Fiona. 🙂

Courtney is loving her life – she adores her home and is enjoying every aspect of owning her business. That is, until the night she finds …

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory

My Thoughts

Grave Consequences is the fifth book in this cozy mystery with light paranormal elements. This delightful series is set in Bay Island, a little town just a ferry ride from Long Island. Cass and Bee are two of my favorite cozy mystery characters. Bee is larger than life and full of personality. He cares deeply for his friends and always has me saying “awwww” or laughing out loud. Cass is smart and determined. Even when she doesn’t understand her psychic abilities, she still tries her best to help the people who need helping.

I really enjoyed that this book centered around the Bay Island Lighthouse. It was a way for us to visit somewhere new on the island …

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert

My Thoughts

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert is the first book in the new Booklovers B&B Mystery series and it is set in Beaufort, NC. North Carolina is my favorite state to visit – my sister-in-law’s sister lives in Wilmington, and I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time there. I love everything about a B&B for book lovers! What a perfect destination vacation. I’d love to participate in fun bookish events – especially in an area I love spending time in. The setting and the premise of the story drew me in first. I found myself reading until I was too sleepy to keep going! That is the mark of a good book for me – when I …

The Legend of Gasparilla and His Treasure by Carolyn Arnold

The Legend of Gasparilla and His Treasure by Carolyn Arnold

My Thoughts

The Matthew Connor adventure series is full of excitement and suspense. Lots of action keeps the story flowing and had me on the edge of my seat. Each book in this series has left me wanting more, and especially this one. This time around, Matthew finds himself outrunning danger while trying to discover a pirate’s treasure. This action-packed adventure is perfect for anyone who loves mystery and excitement in their stories. One of my favorite things is that the characters and settings are so well-developed and realistic. The author has a knack for being able to transport you right into the story.

I would love for these books to be made into a TV series or movie! If you …

All We Buried by Elena Taylor – Schweitzer: A Story About a Dog + Review & Giveaway

All We Buried by Elena Taylor – Schweitzer: A Story About a Dog + Review & Giveaway

Schweitzer: A Story About a Dog

I am a working dog and Earle Rivers was my person. He taught me how to sniff out all kinds of things so I could help him in his job as the Sheriff of Collier. We made a great team. He was my person and I would do anything for him.

Then Earle went away. I don’t really understand what happened. He left on a walk. I know that’s what he was doing, because I know what he looks like when he’s planning a long walk in the woods. I wanted to go with him, but he wouldn’t let me. He said. “You stay with Bet. She’s your person now.”

I’m not sure why he said …

In An Instant by Suzanne Redfearn

In An Instant by Suzanne Redfearn

In An Instant by Suzanne Redfearn had me captivated from the first page. I related to the story so well. The author’s writing was phenomenal. I could easily put myself in Finn’s shoes – I remembered being a teen. Feeling some of the things she was feeling. I also have a 17-year-old daughter which helps to make this story feel more real. I didn’t want to put this book down, I had to keep reading. I felt so many emotions while reading. The writing, characters, pacing…all of it was superb. I cannot wait to read more from Ms. Redfearn.

Murder Makes Scents by Christin Brecher

Murder Makes Scents by Christin Brecher

Murder Makes Scents is the second book in the Nantucket Candle Maker Mysteries. I had the opportunity to meet Christin Brecher last summer and she was simply delightful. I was excited to have the chance to read this book (and am now going to go back and read book one). I was able to jump right into the story without having read the first book. The author did a nice job of introducing the characters and the setting to make reading this book without the first easy. I love that Stella and her mom were together in this one. One of my favorite things about the story was the characters. They’re a lot of fun.

If you …
