Small Town Spin by LynDee Walker

When a superstar athlete’s son turns up dead in a tiny town on the Virginia coast, crime reporter Nichelle Clarke gets the inside scoop. But she quickly spies a gaping hole her inner Lois Lane cannot ignore.

Determined to unravel the mystery, Nichelle fights off paparazzi cameras and an unexpected rival. She uncovers an illegal moonshine operation, a string of copycat suicides, and a slew of closets stacked with more skeletons than slingbacks. Chasing a killer who’s a breath from getting away with murder, Nichelle realizes too late the culprit has her number—and it might be up.

Today, the lovely LynDee Walker is visiting Brooke Blogs. She graciously agreed to answer some tough questions! Okay, maybe not so tough. 😉 But fun questions anyhow. Thanks so much for coming by, LynDee!

Thanks so much for having me, Brooke!

Fast 5 Questions:

1: Where do you write? Describe your space/equipment.

Anywhere I can! I have three small children, so it’s very much an every-word-for-itself environment. I’m currently writing the fourth Headlines in High Heels novel, DEVIL IN THE DEADLINE, and I’ve worked in my bedroom, on my couch in front of the fire, on the loveseat in my sunroom, and at my local Starbucks. Pretty much wherever I can be comfortable and not have a child pushing my computer into the floor. My laptop is the constant in this equation: I write in Scrivener on a 13-inch MacBook Air, and I LOVE it. The keyboard even lights up so I can see to type at night if I’m trying to sneak in extra words before bed.

2. What would your last meal consist of?

Oh, wow. I love food, but I’ve never thought about this! Let’s see: fried pickles, empanadas, really good spanish rice, fresh salsa, and Cheesecake Factory strawberry shortcake. Can we tell I’m a fan of carbs?

3. What is your favorite genre to read?

Most of the time, the same as what I write. I love mysteries with a side of humor and romance (Laura Levine is one of my favorite authors). Good thrillers run a close second (think Hank Phillipi Ryan). Romance, paranormal, and nonfiction populate the rest of my bookshelves.

4. Tell us an interesting fact about you.

Hmmmm. I had to ask for help with this one. Here’s what my family and friends came up with: I can pick up small objects with my toes (they’re kind of long), I tie my hair in knots (it never stays) when I’m concentrating, and Disney World is my favorite place on Earth.

5. What is the best part of writing?

I love everything about it. The best part of actual writing is that rush I feel when the story all falls into place, or when I reread a line and just love it. The best thing about being an author, without question, is the readers. I love meeting and hearing from readers, and y’all have made this fairy tale year so much more wonderful for me. Thank you!
