My Thoughts
Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes is a quick, light holiday read. Hallie doesn’t have holiday spirit. She feels that died when her parents were killed in a car crash at Christmastime long ago. She tends to just ignore the holiday season and focus on work. Her Aunt Grace, who doesn’t have much, but loves Christmas, wants Hallie to come and visit. Hallie usually tries to avoid it, because it is too painful to try to enjoy the holidays.
This was a sweet story about getting your holiday spirit back, finding what’s important, and even experiencing a touch of Christmas magic. I liked this short Christmas story. It is nice that it is also a prequel to Tonya’s book, Carpe Bead ‘Em. If you’re looking for a short, sweet holiday read, pick up Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes for just 99 cents today.
