More Than Magic by Donna June Cooper is the first in the Books of the Kindling series. This book totally surprised me and I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. The author has taken a great story on its own and weaved magic into it to make it even more amazing. I really loved Grace. She is strong, more powerful than she knows, and super smart, but she is instantly likable and real. Grace is easy to relate to. She has lost her Pops, the patriarch of her family. She is struggling to deal with that and the magic teeming within her.
