I had the opportunity to listen to the newest album from Christian singer Julie Elias: The Dreamer. I really loved that this album was a mix of original music as well as a few carefully chosen covers of popular worship songs. Julie has a beautiful, clear voice. One of my favorite things about the album is that the songs don’t all sound the same. Julie brought so many sounds together on one album. I enjoyed the balance of upbeat, even 80s-esque songs along with powerful ballad-like worship songs. My favorite cover song was “Mistakes” with “Goodness of God” a close second. From the original songs, “River Runs Dry” and “Free” top my list. With the different mix of sounds, Julie takes you on an immersive, worshipful journey that will have you singing along.
