Bearly Departed by Meg Macy is the first book in A Teddy Bear Mystery series. I was so excited to get my hands on this book. I love cozy mysteries. I love and collect Boyd’s Bears. Meg Macy did not disappoint!
Sasha manages her family’s teddy bear shop and factory. She suspects one of their employees, Will Taylor, is trying to make changes to their business for less-than-honest reasons. She even suspects him of selling their teddy bear pattern to a competitor. Will also brings up the idea of getting rid of some of their employees. No one at the Silver Bear Shop and Factory likes Will, and there have even been a few who exchanged words with him. So when Will ends up dead at work, there is no shortage of suspects.
I thoroughly enjoyed this cute and fun cozy mystery. Sasha is a smart sleuth and I liked following her through this mystery. This mystery had everything I love about cozies: a great lead character, a puzzling mystery, several viable suspects, and it kept me guessing until the end. The only thing Bearly Departed didn’t give me? A new teddy bear. 😉
