A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon #WintersRespite

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon #WintersRespite

Seasons of Reading is hosting A Winter’s Respite Read-a-Thon from January 26th through February 1st. I love participating in reading challenges and read-a-thons. It’s such a great way to connect with other readers! You don’t have to have a blog to participate. There are no real rules for this read-a-thon other than just reading. 😉 Seasons of Reading wants to promote a week of relaxed reading, and I’m all in for that! Plus, there is a giveaway if you link-up your sign-up post and your wrap-up post. Yay! Be sure to click the banner at the top of this post to sign up. Let me know in the comments if you’ll be joining A Winter’s Respite Read-a-Thon. I’d love …

Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes – Review #HoHoHoRAT

Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes – Review #HoHoHoRAT

My Thoughts

Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes is a quick, light holiday read. Hallie doesn’t have holiday spirit. She feels that died when her parents were killed in a car crash at Christmastime long ago. She tends to just ignore the holiday season and focus on work. Her Aunt Grace, who doesn’t have much, but loves Christmas, wants Hallie to come and visit. Hallie usually tries to avoid it, because it is too painful to try to enjoy the holidays.

This was a sweet story about getting your holiday spirit back, finding what’s important, and even experiencing a touch of Christmas magic. I liked this short Christmas story. It is nice that it is also a prequel to Tonya’s book, Carpe …

Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Read-a-thon #HoHoHoRAT

Yay! The Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Read-a-thon has started! I just love reading holiday books all year long, but especially this time of year. Right when it starts getting colder out, my desire to read books with a holiday flavor kicks into high gear. 🙂 I’m not sure what all books I will read during this fun read-a-thon, which lasts from November 6th to the 11th. Click the photo at the top of the post for more info and to sign up.

Here’s some books I may be picking up during the Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Read-a-thon:

A Fairytale Christmas by Susan Meier and Barbara Wallace
Snowplace Like Home by Tonya Kappes
Mistletoe Wishes by Carole Mortimer, Jane Porter and Catherine George
That Holiday Feeling by Debbie Macomber, …

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon Mini Update @readathon #readathon

Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon Mini Update

I haven’t read nearly as much as I wanted to. Once I got home from work and ate, I started feeling under the weather and ended up laying down. I don’t know what happened, but I napped for a while. Oops! Back at it now. Here is what I’ve read so far:

Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews: Started at 180/382. Currently at 211/382
Intrusion by Charlotte Stein: Ebook at 4%
The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown: Audiobook started at 0:00/10:26. Currently at 00:15/10:26. Though I’m not sure I’ll continue with this one. I’m having a hard time getting into it.

Mid-Event Survey:

1. What are you reading right now? Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews.
2. How many books …

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon @readathon #readathon

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon @readathon #readathon

Good morning! Today is the Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon, and I couldn’t be more excited!! This is my first time participating, and I can’t wait to get started. I would be started right now, but I’m working until 2pm my time. So I may get a late start, but I’m planning to read on my break at work and listen to audiobooks in the car. Plus, I work at the library, so I may get at least something read. 🙂 Before I’m off to work, I’ll answer the Opening Meme questions.

Opening Meme

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m reading in a little town in eastern Ohio, USA!
2) Which book in your stack are you …

Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon #WWReadathon

It’s time for the Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon! Yay! I just signed up for this one, and I’m also going to be doing Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon this weekend, so they work out together. I’m not sure yet what I’ll be reading for the read-a-thons. I’ll update this post with progress/books finished/whatever I have accomplished that I feel needs updating. 🙂 Are you participating in the read-a-thon? I love that it’s super laid back. No requirements, just reading. Even if you can’t participate every day during the read-a-thon, you can still sign up and just participate when you are able to. Let me know in the comments if you’re participating. Click the button at the top of this post to …

FrightFall Read-a-Thon #FrightFall

FrightFall Read-a-Thon #FrightFall

Super excited I stumbled across the Seasons of Reading blog and found out about the FrightFall Read-a-Thon. Yay read-a-thons! I love that there are seasonal read-a-thons, and this one sounds like a lot of fun. The one main guideline that must be followed is that you read ONE scary book. It can be mystery, thriller, horror, gothic, etc. Other than that, you can read what you like and just enjoy the read-a-thon! No pressure – but lots of fun reading! My tentative reading plan follows, though I tend to deviate from my planned reads or add additional books.

My #FrightFall requirement:

Mojave Green by The Brothers Washburn
Dimensions in Death: Book 2
Juvenile Fiction/Horror
Publication Date: October 7, 2014
Format: …

It’s that time again…time for another read-a-thon. Yay! Bout of Books 11.0 is almost underway, and I’m getting my sign-up post done in the nick of time. Why? Because I procrastinate, that is why. Also, I’ve been a bit busy for a few weeks with summer activities.

You set up your goals and read along with lots of other who are participating. There’s no pressure, and it’s lots of fun. There are different activities throughout the week!
