Too many mysterious deaths.
Not enough clues.
A string of staged deaths forces Texas Ranger Emily O’Connell on a covert mission to investigate a governor’s connection to the deceased women. She doesn’t trust anyone—including crime scene cleaner Stone Spencer. But when Emily’s questioning makes her the serial killer’s next target, she must turn to ex-ranger Stone for help. With threats at every turn, outrunning a merciless villain could be the last thing they do.

Texas Crime Scene Cleaners
Book 1: Crime Scene Conspiracy
My Thoughts
Crime Scene Conspiracy by Jessica Patch is the first book in the Texas Crime Scene Cleaners series. Texas Ranger Emily O’Connell is quietly looking into a possible connection between the governor and several young women who passed away under somewhat suspicious circumstances. She seems to hit roadblocks at every turn, from “lost” evidence to people not being truthful when questioned. Bodies continue to pile up – including anyone who happens to be looking into these deaths.
Emily teams up with Stone Spencer – a former Ranger, and current crime scene cleaner. She has major trust issues due to her father, and it spills over into her professional life, as she finds it nearly impossible to trust Stone, his brothers, or anyone around them to help crack the case.
This was an exciting, inspirational romance. The suspense was spot on. Emily was so untrusting – almost ridiculously so – but once you find out why, and see the danger she and others are in, it is easy to understand why. I loved that this was set near the holidays – that brought in some fun, family touches and gave an element of peace to the story, even amid all the chaos.
I am so glad this is the first in a series, because I cannot wait to read more!
