Genre: Light-hearted romantic suspense with humor

Sunny Kennedy, the only female in a family of blue blood male detectives, is determined to prove testosterone isn’t the only qualification required to solve a cold case. Handcuffed while undercover then taken to the precinct by an attractive detective, her domineering family demands she work with Detective Judson Blackwolf, or she’s off the case.

Judson Blackwolf thinks women in law enforcement should work behind the scenes. The prospect of working with his Captain’s sexy daughter doesn’t thrill him. He only agrees in hopes of solving the murder of his one time mentor’s daughter. Once the case is over, he’s moving to Montana to heal his wounds from the loss of his last partner.

10 Fun Facts about Some Like it in Handcuffs

I’d like to share the blurb and an excerpt from my debut release Some Like it in Handcuffs – a sexy, light-hearted, romantic suspense with humor. But before I do that I want to give you 10 FUN FACTS about the book that not many people know.

1. Sunny Kennedy, the heroine who is a private investigator, has an arrogant male cat named Chocolate. I ‘borrowed’ Chocolate’s mannerisms from my own real life cat with the same name.
2. Sunny has four older brothers. Derek, Paxton, Brent, and Craig. I named Craig after my brother and made sure he had the same obnoxious sense of humor. Lol
3. When I originally wrote Some Like it in Handcuffs I planned on the hero, Judson Blackwolf, being Sunny’s boss instead of a detective friend of her brothers. I changed plans when I decided to include more of Sunny’s family into the story.
4. Naming characters is one of my favorite things about starting a new story. Sunny came to me right away, but I had trouble coming up with a heroes name. At the time I began writing Some Like it in Handcuffs I worked in a large emergency room and lots of wonderful names passed through our doors. Judson was one of them. As soon as I heard it, I instantly knew Sunny’s hero had to be named Judson. To me Sunny sounds fun and a little Sassy—like my heroine. And Judson makes me think of a strong man who can diffuse any situation with his know-how and humor—like my hero.
5. In the original version of Some Like it in Handcuffs there was a scene where Sunny and Judson were at a gun range and she put him to shame with her accuracy. I had to cut the scene in order to add in another scene with one of my favorite secondary characters, Maggie Slater. When you read Some Like it in Handcuffs I think you’ll be glad I made that call.
6. One of my favorite scenes from Some Like it in Handcuffs involves a confrontation between Judson and Derek in Sunny’s kitchen. The scene was full of testosterone and female annoyance. I still get a chuckle when I read it.
7. I love a man with humor and I couldn’t resist incorporating that into a few of my male characters in this book.
8. One of the characters has a vintage turquoise truck. I borrowed the idea from an old ’69 Ford pickup that my dad gave to my brother when he first got his license.
9. When I was ready to submit Some Like it in Handcuffs I sent out queries to a handful of agents and only one publisher. The Wild Rose Press sent me a contract offer within a few months of submission.
10. I’ve been asked by several readers to make Some Like it in Handcuffs into a series and feature the stories of each of Sunny’s brothers. Originally, that was my plan and I have outlines for each book—unfortunately other projects have come up and pushed these stories to the back burner—but I do hope one day to follow through. Stay tuned…
