A Hint of Mischief by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review

A Hint of Mischief by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review

My Thoughts

I enjoyed the first two books in this series and was so excited to receive a copy of book 3 to review. A Hint Of Mischief has a lot going on in terms of character development (both with the human characters/relationships and the fairies) as well as a murder and 2 mini-mysteries: one about fairy doors and one about thefts.

One thing I really liked about this one was getting to learn more about the fairies and what they can do. It’s such a fun and whimsical element to the story and really adds a lot to the series. While I really liked this book, it did feel at times like the story wasn’t moving as quickly as it …

The Plot is Murder by V.M. Burns – Review

The Plot is Murder by V.M. Burns – Review

My Thoughts

When I requested this book from the library, I wasn’t even sure what it was about. I just knew it was the book chosen for the Cozy Escape Book Club. I started reading it and it was such an unexpected type of cozy. I absolutely loved the writing style. I really loved the inclusion of Sam’s historical mystery. I found myself just as invested in figuring out that mystery as the mystery that was actually taking place. In fact, I would love Sam’s stories to be published as a series on their own – they were that enjoyable in the little snippets throughout the book.

Sam, Nana Jo, and the girls were wonderful characters. It felt like the Golden Girls …

Burden of Poof by Julie Anne Lindsey – Spotlight + Review + Kitty Prize Package Giveaway

Burden of Poof by Julie Anne Lindsey – Spotlight + Review + Kitty Prize Package Giveaway

My Thoughts

Burden of Poof is a fabulous start to a new cozy mystery series from author Julie Anne Lindsey. Head on down to Bliss, Georgia with Bonnie Balfour as she starts over in her hometown with the cutest second-hand boutique: Bless Her Heart; and the cutest little bow-tie-wearing black cat: Clyde. Bonnie finds herself the prime suspect in the murder of grouchy Viola Harrington. Now Bonnie finds herself trying to prove her innocence on top of trying to move on from her divorce.

I have been eagerly anticipating this series since I first heard about and then when I read the free prequel, I was hooked! I preordered the first four books. Bonnie is the perfect cozy sleuth. She’s my …

A Spirit Seeks Asylum by Lena Gregory – A Reading with Cass + Giveaway

A Reading With Cass Donovan

I’m Cass Donovan, owner of Mystical Musings, a small psychic shop on Bay Island. Thank you for dropping by today. You’re just in time, too. I’m about to start a group reading at Mystical Musings, and I figured it would be fun to give you a peek at a group reading from my point of view. So, come on in, have a seat at one of the many tables scattered throughout the shop, and we’ll get started.

Usually, Stephanie, one of my best friends, introduces me. She’ll talk a little about what’s about to happen. She’ll tell my clients I will walk through the room and seek out those whose dearly departed loved ones are trying …

Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock – Review & Giveaway

Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock – Review & Giveaway

My Thoughts

Aloe and Goodbye by Janice Peacock is the first book in the new Ruby Shaw Mysteries series. This was such an exciting book! I absolutely loved the premise. From the moment I read that Ruby and her daughter were in witness protection, I wondered how in the world the author would pull off telling the story. I didn’t know if she would be able to have Ruby involved in a crime without blowing her cover.

The author did not disappoint. I loved that the story still felt light even with the gritty subject matter…after all, to be in WITSEC, usually something terrible has happened. I really, really liked Ruby and I loved the setting of Paradise, Arizona. This …

Murder in Devil’s Cove by Melissa Bourbon

Murder in Devil’s Cove by Melissa Bourbon

Murder in Devil’s Cove by Melissa Bourbon is a book I have been eagerly anticipating every since I saw the title and read the blurb. The storyline is eerie and unique and I love how I felt like I didn’t know how it was going to play out. Once I sat down and started reading this one, I was hooked. I really appreciated the family tree as well as the map of the town at the beginning of the book. Those little details really help bring the story alive. Magic plus an entertaining mystery pulled me in and wouldn’t let me go. I want to visit Devil’s Cove and get wrapped up in the magic and mystery. This is …

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review and Giveaway

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber – Review and Giveaway

My Thoughts

A Sprinkling of Murder by Daryl Wood Gerber is everything I hoped it would be and more! From the moment I saw the cover of this magical read, I knew I was going to love it. Courtney is the owner of Open Your Imagination, a fairy garden store. She has lots of fun events, from book clubs with tea (and live harp music!) out on the patio to learning activities where participants can make their own fairy garden. One minor detail: Courtney can see fairies. Or, at least, her fairy Fiona. 🙂

Courtney is loving her life – she adores her home and is enjoying every aspect of owning her business. That is, until the night she finds …

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory

My Thoughts

Grave Consequences is the fifth book in this cozy mystery with light paranormal elements. This delightful series is set in Bay Island, a little town just a ferry ride from Long Island. Cass and Bee are two of my favorite cozy mystery characters. Bee is larger than life and full of personality. He cares deeply for his friends and always has me saying “awwww” or laughing out loud. Cass is smart and determined. Even when she doesn’t understand her psychic abilities, she still tries her best to help the people who need helping.

I really enjoyed that this book centered around the Bay Island Lighthouse. It was a way for us to visit somewhere new on the island …

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert

My Thoughts

Booked for Death by Victoria Gilbert is the first book in the new Booklovers B&B Mystery series and it is set in Beaufort, NC. North Carolina is my favorite state to visit – my sister-in-law’s sister lives in Wilmington, and I’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time there. I love everything about a B&B for book lovers! What a perfect destination vacation. I’d love to participate in fun bookish events – especially in an area I love spending time in. The setting and the premise of the story drew me in first. I found myself reading until I was too sleepy to keep going! That is the mark of a good book for me – when I …
