Interview

Please join me in welcoming Jacqueline Paige to Brooke Blogs today. Thank you so much for stopping by and answering some questions. 🙂

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

I love watching the story unfold. I may plot and plan but the characters change that, so it’s always an adventure to see where it goes.

What does your writing area look like?

When I’m in the middle of a story it can get a bit cluttered (note books, sticky notes…) and it looks a lot more ‘techie’ than I am. I generally use my netbook, which has a second larger monitor (I use it for editing or major multi-tasking) and when the story is really flying I forget to move for long periods of time so I have another keyboard I plug in so I can move away from my chair and desk while still using the big monitor.

Do you have any interesting writing quirks?

I don’t know if it’s a quirk, but I have to have a drink while I’m writing. I’m not sure why because half the time it’s cold coffee by the time I remember to drink it, but it still has to be sitting there.

How much time do you spend writing each day?

That varies depending on which stage of a story I’m in. If it’s really coming together I have been known to write for twelve hours a day or more. Fortunately I have a family that reminds me I need to eat or sleep from time to time.

If you could invite anyone, past or present, to dinner, who would you invite and why?

This isn’t the first time I’ve been asked this question and each time I seem to answer it differently, depending on what’s going on in my life at the time I suppose. I would invite Hellen Keller to dinner. To me she is the epitome of someone that didn’t give up despite every possible obstacle that stood in her way. She’s definitely an inspiration when things aren’t going as planned, although there’s nothing in my world that could compare to her world.

Do you like reading eBooks or paperbacks more?

I really don’t have a preference. I read books on my phone, I have an e-reader and shelves of paperbacks and hard covers. I just love reading.

What is one of your favorite books?

That would be Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Acheron. I love the length of time Sherrilyn covered in this story, she did an amazing job writing it. (I’m sure I’ll be adding Styxx as a favorite, just as soon as I have time to sit down and read it.)

Thank you for letting me interview you! Last question…if you could tell my readers about your book in just two sentences, what would you say?

It’s an intriguing tale about a curse. Sometimes a curse isn’t a bad thing.

About the Author

Jacqueline Paige lives in Ontario in a small town that’s part of the popular Georgian Triangle area. No one has ever heard of Stayner, so she usually tells people she lives “near Collingwood” and no, she doesn’t ski at Blue Mountain or at all, in fact she’s not even fond of snow.

She began her writing career in 2006 and since her first published works in 2009 she hasn’t stopped. Jacqueline describes her writing as “all things paranormal”, which she has proven is her niche with stories of witches, ghosts, physics and shifters now on the shelves.

When Jacqueline isn’t working at her ‘reality job’ or lost in her writing she spends time with her five children, most of whom are finally able to look after her instead of the other way around. Together they do random road trips, that usually end up with them lost, shopping trips where they push every button in the toy aisle, hiking when there’s enough time to escape and bizarre things like creating new daring recipes in the kitchen. She’s a grandmother to four (so far) and looks forward to corrupting many more in the years to come.

My Review

This Ring by Jacqueline Paige is a short story that jumps out and grabs you right from the beginning. I felt drawn into Emma’s world and wanted to know more of her story. Emma is a character that is easy to relate to, as it seems that her situation is one that could be quite commonplace. The paranormal aspect of the story was unique and I really enjoyed it.

  1. Thanks for having me here today. Sorry I’m so late. I had to take my daughter to the hospital this morning. All is well now and I spent the day looking at the dull walls of two different hospitals. 🙂
