Granny Skewers a Scoundrel by Julie Seedorf – Review, Guest Post, Giveaway

Granny Skewers a Scoundrel by Julie Seedorf – Review, Guest Post, Giveaway

Granny Skewers a Scoundrel by Julie Seedorf is the second in the Fuchsia Minnesota mystery series and it is a ton of fun. Granny is a spry, sassy little rascal and she makes me laugh out loud. She is old and she knows it, but she doesn’t let that stop her from trying to solve crimes in her town. The characters and scenes are quite colorful and enjoyable. I look forward to reading lots more adventures with Granny. She is too fun!

I have always had an active imagination. Deep in the recesses of my brain there is something that triggers an intrigue in the thought of hidden doors, hidden rooms and hidden tunnels in houses. Along with …

Lost Then Found by Christina Freeburn – Review + Giveaway

Lost Then Found by Christina Freeburn is the first book in the inspirational romantic suspense series New Beginnings. Renee and her ex-husband Jonas have issues in their relationship and unresolved problems that surface throughout the story. They are both stubborn and have a difficult time forgiving and letting themselves move forward and work together. They have to work together in order to save Glory, a young girl who is being targeted by her uncle for stealing a check worth half a million dollars.

There was definitely a lot of suspense in the story. I enjoyed the character and family dynamics in this one. It presented an interesting backdrop and continued to play a role in how all the …

Anything For A Story by Cynthia Hickey – Book Review + Giveaway

Anything For A Story by Cynthia Hickey – Book Review + Giveaway

Anything For A Story by Cynthia Hickey is a fun, light cozy mystery. Stormi is an author of romance books and she stumbles across a body in her gated community. She decides a foray into writing romantic mystery would be good for her career, and sets out to gather story ideas and solve the crime. Her mother, sister, niece and nephew show up uninvited and move in with Stormi, much to her chagrin. She becomes involved with Detective Matthew Steele.

I liked the flow of the story and it was a quick read. Light mystery, light romance, and light-hearted characters made this story (the first in a new series) a perfect summer afternoon read. I enjoyed it and …

Thread End by Amanda Lee – Book Review + $50 Giveaway

Thread End by Amanda Lee – Book Review + $50 Giveaway

Thread End by Amanda Lee is the seventh installment in the Embroidery Mystery series. This is actually the first book I’ve read in the series. Marcy has the unfortunate luck of stumbling over a body behind her shop, the Seven-Year Stitch. Her boyfriend, Detective Ted Nash, is on the case. I really liked their relationship together. I loved that he called her Inch-High Private Eye. 🙂 Such a cute nickname, and I already can imagine all the other times she’s been playing detective in the series. The characters in the town were fun to know, including Angus, Marcy’s Irish wolfhound.

The mystery popped out right at the beginning of the story and so many threads of possibilities unraveled …

They chose to use Sparkle Abbey as the pen name on this series because they liked the idea of combining the names of …

Murder in Merino by Sally Goldenbaum – Book Review

Murder in Merino by Sally Goldenbaum – Book Review

Murder in Merino by Sally Goldenbaum is the eighth addition to the Seaside Knitters Mystery series. I have not read any of the other books in the series, though I would love to have the time to read them after reading this book. I had no trouble at all feeling right at home in Sea Harbor. The characters are warm and welcoming and the town is just a delight.

I really liked that there was a Cast of Characters listed at the front of the book. It was especially handy since I am not familiar with this series, and was jumping in rather late. I love that it provided not just names and who they were in the …
